Why do I need plant and machinery insurance for skip loaders and dumpers?
Skip loaders and mini dumpers, including powered wheelbarrows, swivel skip dumpers, high capacity 1T, 3T and 6T dumpers, provide the ideal solution for transporting loads across the work zone and for site clearing. They’re efficient, compact, and easy to use, and are a popular choice on most construction and building sites.
If you hire a skip loader or mini dumper, you will often be responsible for loss or damage to the equipment during the hire period. Accidental damage, fire, and theft are tangible risks that can occur at any time. Furthermore, it is usually a contractual requirement to arrange insurance for the hired in digger and provide evidence of this to the hire company.
With a short term or annual hired in plant insurance, you will be protecting yourself from your contractual liability and will be ensuring you are compliant with the hire contract.
Should the worst happen, you can claim up to £100,000 in repair or replacement costs, and if you are responsible for paying continuing hire charges until the machine is repaired or replaced then that cover is included within our short term hire policy up to a limit of £5,000.
What machines can be covered by insurance for plant hire?

The claims process?
Settling a claim is a quick and straightforward process if you come prepared. As soon as the incident happens you should notify us as well as the hire firm.
You will need to provide policy details, including the policy number and details of the hire. Then provide us with a claim form and as much detail and evidence about the incident as possible.
If theft is involved, you will need to submit a police report and crime reference number as essential evidence. You may also need to provide evidence of the continuing hire charges charged by the hire company following the loss of the equipment.
